TROPIX 6.0

Technological characteristics of 245 tropical species

Developed by the "Production and Processing of Tropical Woods" research unit of Cirad, TROPIX CD Rom presents the main characteristics of 245 tropical species.

For each of the presented species TROPIX gives you information on:

• One or several scientific names
• The origin and the local names
• Aspect of the log and wood
• Physical and mechanical properties
• Durability and preservation
• Drying
• Processing
• Possible uses

TROPIX also allows you to make searches according to one or more criteria.

TROPIX finally allows you to print the data sheet concerning the chosen species or a list of species responding to the different criteria selected.

TROPIX is developed for PC. System requirements needed are the following:

PC, Pentium® IV processor or over,
128 Mo of RAM or over,
120 Mo of free space on hard drive,
640 x 480 Video display, thousands of colours or over,
Microsoft® Windows® XP or over
